Tree ID and Dendrochronology Hike

When: Saturday – December 17th
Time: 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Donation: $10/person, $5/members, Children 6 and younger are free
Where: Meet at the Picnic Pavilions behind the Nature Center
Naturalist Jacob Crider and Dr. Maegen Rochner, a geoscience professor at the University of Louisville, will lead you on this hike. They will take you on a hike down into the ravines and valleys to look at various tree species and learn identification tips and tips on growing them at home! Dr. Rochner is a dendrochronologist and archaeologist she will be coring trees and showing the various types of tree cores from multiple species, and teach about tree ring science on the hike.
Wear comfortable shoes for walking on uneven ground. Difficulty is easy to moderate. Masks are optional.
We encourage you to bring binoculars (if you have a pair), a camera or smartphone, and plenty of curiosity!
