The Nature of Oaks
April 12, 2025 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT
Free

When: Saturday, April 12th
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Donation: Free, RSVP, donations encouraged
Where: Inside the Nature Center followed by the Woodland Garden
Creasey’s board member and garden volunteer, Dr. John Hubbard, will share his love of oak trees and how they benefit wildlife and pollinators. He will highlight important facts gleaned from Doug Tallamy’s book, The Nature of Oaks, and review the native oaks of Kentucky.
You will discover how to identify oaks through their leaves, bark, and acorns. After the indoor presentation, the group will head outside for a tour of oaks in the Woodland Garden.
As John said, “It’s amazing once you learn to identify a tree how much more fun a walk can be. For me, it was discovering a stately 250-year-old White Oak (Quercus alba) tree only a half block from my home. It is beautiful in every season!”
