Fabulous Ferns for Sale
Due to popular demand (from visitors and gardeners), we have stunning ferns available for sale. These are exceptional, cold-hardy, perennial ferns that grow well in our zone. They will add instant beauty to your shade garden.
These come in 4″ pots and are ready to be planted at any time. You’ll want to water them weekly until autumn rains arrive. When spring comes, these gems will be stars of your garden.
HINT: These are nibble-resistant to (most) deer and rabbits.

Limelight Lady Fern (Athyrium otophorum) – You’ll adore this beautiful, delicate fern that will light up shady spots with lime green new fronds and rosy midribs. Height 18″-24″, width 15″-18″.
Dixie Wood Fern (Dryopteris australis) – One of our favorites! This handsome fern has an upright, arching growth to 3′ tall (or taller) and provides a striking vertical element to a shade garden. This is a versatile fern that will adapt to deep shade or more sun than you may expect.
Tokyo Wood Fern (Dryopteris tokyoensis) – This is an easy to grow favorite of many fern experts, but it is little known and rarely available. You’ll have bragging rights with this hardy, easy to grow plant with upright and narrow 3′ fronds.
Robust Male Fern (Dryopteris x complexa) – If you have low light areas where nothing else will grow, try this dramatic fern (grow it in other part-shade areas, too), that will attract attention with 3′-4′ of lacy, dark green fronds.
GARDENING TIPS: Pair the above ferns with Trillium, Mertensia, Heuchera, Tiarella, Hosta, Hellebore, Brunnera, and any of your favorite shade garden plants.
The above ferns will appreciate compost-amended soil that will drain well.
