If you’ve always wanted to learn about our feathered friends\, you are invited to join us. \nBirders from across the nation will be tracking bird populations\, and we are doing our part\, as we have for 17 years and counting! \nWe will meet inside the Nature Center before heading out on a walk led by birding experts (and phenomenal photographers)\, Lee Payne\, Jr. and Brandon McQueen. With their guidance\, you will learn to identify and count birds.  \nLater\, our sightings will be reported to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. DESCRIPTION:The Grant’s Giving 5K timed run will also feature a 3K Walk/Run and will be held at Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve in Goshen\, KY.  The conclusion of the event will feature food trucks\, music\, and fun! \nGrant Tucker was a vibrant little boy\, beloved in his community of Goshen\, KY. Grant passed away Nov. 21\, 2020\, just days after his 12th birthday. This community event is multipurpose as it was created in remembrance of his passing and celebration of his birth. DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday\, August 31st\nTime: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.\nDonation: $11/person\, $6/members\, Children 6 and younger are free\nWhere: Meet at the Forest Friends Playground\n\nSome birds of prey are also known as raptors\, including hawks\, owls\, eagles\, and falcons. They mainly survive by hunting vertebrates\, such as reptiles\, smaller birds\, and mammals. \nJoin Austin on a walk to search for evidence of birds of prey using Creasey Mahan’s grounds for hunting\, nursing\, and nesting.  \nThe bird walk will begin in the woodland areas\, as we scan the shaded canopy for owls returning home after a long night. We hope to encounter species of all sizes\, such as Red-shouldered Hawks to the small American Kestrel.  \nRecommendation: Bring binoculars\, water\, and wear good hiking footwear. \nHike difficulty: Moderate \n\n\n***REGISTER BELOW***
