Buddy Freckles

Hi there! My name is Buddy Freckles and I am the Mole Manager and Canine Hospitality Host at Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve.

I finally convinced the Preserve's Director that I should be allowed to keep all our canine friends and their people up to date on the really interesting things going on here. Keeping a sense of humor is important, so we will share articles and photos to keep you smiling, just like me.

If you have a good story or photo to share, just email it to me at Buddy@CreaseyMahanNaturePreserve.org.

Give a Poor Dog a Drink

Dog FountainIf you haven't come by the Nature Preserve recently, get your person to bring you here for a walk. When you get thirsty, visit the new dog fountain sculpted just for us by Albert Thomas Nelson and sponsored by the Goshen Animal Clinic. You'll find it near the "barn," where the human fountain and bathrooms are located. Your person can fill it with fresh water after you've taken them on a long walk through the woods. Also, there are pickup bags near the Nature Center parking lot to keep our trails clean and safe for all walkers, both two- and four-footed.

Famous Dog Game

I am the most famous dog around Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, of course, but I wonder how many of you know the names of other famous dogs. You can print this page, then circle the names of the dogs you find in the jumbled up letters. If you aren't familiar with some of these names, ask your person if he knows!

Famous Dogs

Good Dogs Care About Wildlife, the Forest, and Each Other

All of us good dogs know that we are only visitors when we walk at the Nature Preserve, but it is the actual home for wildlife like deer, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes, skunk, fox, lots of birds, butterflies, insects, and other critters. Please never chase any of these residents! Your human should carry a pick-up bag so that we don't leave anything behind and are good visitors.

Also, if another one of us dogs approaches on a leash, then you should make sure you are on leash, too, so as not to frighten a shy dog or human.

Remember, wag more, bark less!
