Virginia Creasey Mahan and Howard Mahan were conservationists ahead of their time. As a gift to all lovers of nature, this insightful couple established the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve in 1975.

Grasslands in Wildlife Refuge

Upon the 168 acres are winding trails lush with a wide variety of trees, wildflowers and shrubs; woodlands, wetlands, and meadows of native grasses; springs, songbirds, and a meandering stream; wildlife in their natureal habitat; and sharing the land, the Mahan's colonial home (built in 1806) and creek stone springhouse.

Arboretum Trail

Throughout the nature preserve are inviting and ideallic spots, much like the picnic table shown above, located along the Arboretum Trail.
